Planet. People. Communities.
At Emerge, we want to contribute to a more sustainable world by operating our business with minimal burden on the planet and with a positive, inclusive impact on people and communities. Our long term success can only be assured by a strategy that values people, planet and communities equally.
Our guiding principle of enabling your best talents to emerge is founded on a passion for fostering inclusion for individuals, organisations and communities. Considering the dangers posed by climate change and the social challenges that go with it, we must step up our efforts to collectively support our planet and the communities living on it equally so that we can all thrive and emerge at our best.
We are taking our sustainability efforts seriously at Emerge so that future generations are better equipped to create sustainable growth for all of our planet’s inhabitants.
Emerge is focused on making coaching accessible to non-traditional groups such as young people living in poverty, junior employees and parents returning to the workplace. Our approach supports every client to consider their impact on the world around them and to deliver positive outcomes in their lives and the lives of others.
Our DEI consulting work focuses on making workplaces inclusive for all, including sustainable work locations, hybrid and flexible working and welcoming non-traditional groups, all of which have positive impacts for our climate.
We encourage clients, other coaching businesses, suppliers and the communities where we work to make a difference for a more equitable planet. By sharing the resulting impact on our planet of our activities, we hope to encourage others to bring sustainable values and practices into their businesses and daily lives too.
With our long term plan to evolve into a matrix structure with coaches and consultants in other locations, we extend our reach without adding to our carbon footprint.
We support other sustainable businesses to make a more significant change in the world.
Our mission to make coaching accessible to non-traditional groups and build inclusive workplaces has the sustainability of our planet at its heart. It takes all of us together to make the world a better place for everyone to thrive.
Planet first
We consider our resources and carbon emissions in all of our business operations. When deciding where to host meetings and facilitated events, we consider the carbon footprint and opt for digital meetings or locations accessible via shared public transportation where possible.
We design out waste from our business by operating with a paperless back office, minimising print materials and ensuring that our digital footprint is designed with low emissions in mind.
We measure emissions from our business and apply the sustainability lens to decisions on where to host meetings and facilitated events in the short to medium term. In the long term, we build partnerships with collaborators in different countries to make Emerge services accessible internationally while minimising travel for us and our clients.
Reaching more people
As a professional service business, our greatest opportunity to impact the planet and our climate is through the people we work with. Our priorities reflect the professional services business and the impact we have through our people interventions.
We make coaching accessible to non-traditional groups and build inclusive workplaces to tackle the inequalities and poverty across different groups of people. Our coaching services bring out the best in people, promote good health and wellbeing and develop caring and empowering leaders of the future. Our inclusion services challenge organisations to take positive action to reduce inequalities in the workplace and build caring organisational cultures where everyone feels included.
For every 10 corporate clients we work with, we donate 10 hours of professional coaching services to non-traditional groups. For example, our CEO has been working with the Yes Futures charity to provide coaching services to young people aged 13-15 from deprived backgrounds to develop Self Awareness, Resilience, Confidence and Communication skills.
Growing sustainable communities
As a responsible partner, Emerge lays the foundations for a matrix business model in the long term to enable like-minded coaches, DEI consultants and facilitators to support businesses and coachees with inclusive coaching and consulting solutions locally.
We continue to communicate our focus on tackling inequalities while building an inclusive coaching communities and providing DEI education to drive sustainable results for all.
We assessed our strategic plan against the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
As a people business, Emerge’s main impact on climate change is through transport emissions when travelling to meet clients or facilitating events. We complete 80% of coaching and consulting online to minimise travel and apply a sustainability lens to decisions on how to travel when necessary. By opting for public transport wherever possible, we are able to keep emissions very low.
Where clients are based in another country/countries, we consider where the participants are travelling from in order to select the venue according to the least travel across the group. We select low emission flight options and record the carbon emissions for transport responsibly as a business to keep this in check as we grow.
As the Emerge business grows, we engage coaches, consultants and facilitators in other countries in order to provide continuity of our services with minimal travel. This will also increase our reach and help to tackle the inequality which we see presently when it comes to access to coaching services.
As a caring and community focused business, Emerge engages with network groups from large global businesses to SME’s, entrepreneurs, creatives and social enterprises. We commit to sharing our learnings from working with larger businesses on DEI and Sustainability topics to encourage smaller businesses to engage with the Sustainable Development Goals and Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover, Dispose principles in their businesses and at network meetings.
We champion the role of the Sustainable Development Goals across our networks and communicate on good practices and resources when we come across them. This with a view to helping businesses and social enterprises of all sizes to deliver quick wins and develop long term good practices for the benefit of our planet and their businesses.
In communicating our Sustainability Strategy to clients, suppliers and other stakeholders, we encourage a positive dialogue in securing a sustainable future for our planet and all of its inhabitants.
